Marzuki Darusman

Mr. Darusman is the former Attorney General, when Abdurrahman Wahid was elected as President in 1999 (the first democratically elected President). He had served 4 terms as member of parliament as representative of Golkar party. 

He has had a distinguished career in public service. He started as member of House of Representatives representing the former ruling party Golkar. When the National Commission on Human Rights
was formed in 1993, Mr. Darusman was selected as Deputy Chairman. He then on continued to become the Commission’s Chairman during the last months of the Soeharto regime. 

Currently he is appointed as UN Secretary General’s Special Raporteur on Human Rights for North Korea, following his role as raporteur for Sri Lanka and the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
